About the Department:

The Department of English was established in the Year 2006 and is functioning since the inception of the institution. The main aim of the Dept. of English is to make the student teachers familiarise, with special refernce to the nature of the language skills to be developed in them.

Vision:

• To equip the teacher trainees with various learning skills and different methodologies in English
• To bring an overall development of the teaher trainees and thereby equip themselves to face the global needs

Mission:

• To provide best resource in Eglish and different methodology to impart quality education
• To provide various curricular and co-curricular programmes for better learning and understanding of studetn community.

Guest Lectures:

Guest Lectures are organised by the department of English to provide an in-depth understanding of student community.

Curriculum Details:

• The curriculum of English Paper I & II is well planned and constructed in a effective way to meet the needs of the teaching – learning process.
• Curriculum is framed in such a way, to achieve the objectives of English and different levels in different schools

Department Details:

The activities of the department are well strategised according to the emerging trends in teaching of English. Various programmes are conducted for teacher trainees to enhance their teaching and communicaiton skills.

Teacher trainees are assigned with practical works which enable them to acquire knowledge about different methodlogical and teaching skills,

• Student teachers are sent to different schools for teaching practise.

• Preparation of Instructinal aids, charts, models, flash cards, PPT presentation.
• Preparation of linear and branched PLM.
• Preparation of phonetic scripts.
• Album Preparation – Picture Album, Blackboard sketches, Language games, Album of any one grammatical item.
• Analysis on a topic in three websites.

• Dictionary Analysis.

Colour Day:

The Department of English celebrates the Colour Day such as Orange, Red and Lavender. Studetns are motivated to highlight the importance of the Colour.

Department Day:

Department Day is conducted on a topic, student teachers presents PPT, dance, skit, song on the topic given. This programmer helps the student trainees to exhibit their potentials.

Other Activities:

The Department of English conducts Debates, Oratorical Competition, Extempore, Poetry Writing, Essay Writing, Quiz Programmes, on burning issues to create awareness among student teachers.

Chithara won first place in Oratorical Competition (2008-2009)
